2021 School Updates

The Adams County/Ohio Valley School District will offer two types of educational platforms for the coming 2020-2021 school year. They are outlined as follows:

Option 1: Students physically attend classes in the school building five days a week. The start date is August 19th. The school day will run from 9:00 - 3:15. The school building will be open for students starting at 8:30. Universal free breakfast will still be provided as a "grab and go" option, which students will take directly to their classroom to eat. The school has added staff and implemented new procedures for sanitation and we are making numerous changes to allow for social distancing. Students will still eat lunch in the cafeteria, but we will add tables to space students out and we will utilize the small gym to separate students by grade level. Students will still have recess, but will be grouped by homeroom in "zones" that will include supervised, organized activities. Students will be required to wear masks on the bus, during hallway transitions, in the cafeteria until they are sitting down and eating and when social distancing cannot be maintained. More information will be available after the school board meeting today.

Option 2: Students can attend classes via the Adams Virtual Academy and still be counted as a student of the Adams County/Ohio Valley School District. This is a standards based online program. A student must commit to staying on the program for one semester before they can return to the school building. If you would like more information regarding Adams Virtual Academy, you can email Marla Young at marla.young@ovsd.us

If you do not want to use the Adams Virtual Academy that is provided by the school district, but you would like to home-school your children, you can do so with a program of your choice. However, your child will no longer be a student of Adams County/Ohio Valley Schools

Please be patient with us as we continue to adjust to constantly changing guidelines. We are working closely with the Adams County Health Department to make a five day, in- person school week possible for our students.
