On September 2nd, teachers in grades Pre-K-6 participated in professional development. K-3 reading teachers attended a Reading Horizons Discovery refresher training with Dr. Ethan Lynn. Reading Horizons Discovery is our board adopted, foundation reading program that is based on a simple and effective method to help all students develop decoding and spelling proficiency. The program includes instructional materials, interactive digital lessons, decodable books, and ongoing professional learning all aligned to the science of reading.
Teachers who were not a part of the Reading Horizons refresher training participated in curriculum realignment and mapping, attended vertical team meetings, and worked on choosing and aligning their high quality student data assessments for their professional growth plans.
