ACOVSD partnered with the Adams County Health Department, the Adams Probation Department, and the Wilson Children's Home to host Douglas Pfeifer, CEO of Life & Purpose Behavioral Health who trained staff on the how to work with students who have been affected by trauma.


Recently, intervention specialists from all 8 buildings participated in Reading Horizons Elevate training. Elevate is a program for struggling readers. This was day two of the training and participants walked away with a deeper knowledge of how to implement the program.

The OVCTC was proud to host Governor DeWine for his short visit to Adams County. The governor was able to see demonstrations of the various uses of technology in several programs including Ag. Business, Welding, Ag. Mechanics, CNC Machining, and Construction Technology.

The safety of our students is our highest priority. An inappropriate and threatening communication was received by a student and directed at a school. This was immediately reported to law enforcement. School and law enforcement officials are working diligently to identify the source of the threat. Due to privacy laws and our desire to not amplify an inappropriate message, we will not have further comment on this matter.

On September 2nd, teachers in grades Pre-K-6 participated in professional development. K-3 reading teachers attended a Reading Horizons Discovery refresher training and all other teachers worked on curriculum mapping and high quality student data alignment.


Fourth - Twelfth grade teachers from every building in the district participated in Reading Horizons Elevate training today. This is a new intervention program that helps struggling readers.





Due to a lack of substitute bus drivers, Route #64, driven by Heather Pollitt, will not run in the morning or afternoon for WUHS or WUES, on Thursday, September 1st.


Peebles Elementary met the criteria to earn the
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) gold rating. PBIS is an approach schools use to promote school safety and good behavior.
Last year, only 31 schools in the state received this rating. Way to go, PES!

We have several new faces at ACOVSD this year! New staff attended New Employee Orientation. The district is excited about all of the new talent that joined the team.
