The district wide Opening Convocation was a huge success. Mrs. Dawn Wallace, new ACOVSD Superintendent, gave an uplifting school year kick-off speech.
Teachers participated in high quality Professional Development this week to get ready for new initiates at the elementary buildings.

The Adams County Back to School Health Fair will be held on August 12, 2023, from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm at the Adams County Christian School (across the street from Walmart).
NEW ADDITION: A sensory-friendly portion of the event will be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am providing lower lighting and decreased noise/sound designed to create a welcoming environment for families of children with autism or other disabilities that create sensory sensitivities.
The event will have health screenings, child immunizations, games, food trucks, giveaways, school supplies, gift cards, parent information classes, and MUCH more! All children and teens from Adams County are invited and welcome to attend.
NAHS and OVCTC FFA students were recognized at the June board meeting for their team and individual accomplishments in FFA. There were several teams and individuals who placed within the top 10 in the state.

Discovery Camp was held at Adams County Ohio Valley School District for six full days in June for students in grades K-6. This year, the camp took place at West Union Elementary. The camp offered students choices of 14 different camps which included the following: Art Camp, Camp Creative, Book Club Camp, Brain Camp, Cooking Camp, Engineering Camp, Entrepreneur Camp, Farm Camp, Game/Sports Camp, Outdoor Camp, Puzzle Club Camp, S.T.E.A.M. Camp, Sports Camp and Technology Camp. Students participated in a lot of fun and engaging activities that were led by district teaching staff. Students created artistic work and projects, launched rockets, built Legos, learned about robotics, cooked, read, listened to guest speakers, learned how to play various sports, went fishing and hiking, learned how to be entrepreneurs, played games, and learned how to solve problems and puzzles. The camp had a daily attendance rate of around 125 students. The camp counselors are already planning for Discovery Camp 2024! On May 22nd, elementary teachers attended professional development and were able to choose sessions based on their content knowledge needs. The teachers and paraprofessionals had a great day of learning!
Here are some friendly reminders for Discovery Camp which begins next week!
*Discovery Camp is from 9:00-3:00 daily and breakfast and lunch will be served.
*Discovery Camp and meals are free!
*Discovery Camp is located at West Union Elementary School and the address is 555 Lloyd Road West Union, Ohio 45693. The phone number to the school is 937-544-2951.
*Students will select their camp choices on the first day of each camp week.
*Dress your student comfortably and in tennis shoes. If they are planning to do Outdoor Camp or a Sports Camp, make sure to have them wear sunscreen.
*If your student is doing Outdoor Camp, there will be a day trip to Adams Lake and you will receive a permission slip to fill out and return for the following day. Students without a permission slip will not be permitted to attend.
*If you are dropping your student off/picking them up, you will come to Entrance 3 (the last entrance) of West Union Elementary.
*If your student is catching a shuttle bus, here are the approximate pick up and drop off times:
North Adams Elementary - Pick up - 7:20 am Drop off - 4:15 pm
Peebles Elementary - Pick up - 7:45 am Drop off - 3:45 pm
Knauff's Grocery (Lynx) - Pick up - 8:15 am Drop off - 3:15 pm
Old Hospital (205 N. Wilson Dr.) - Pick up - 8:35 am Drop off - 3:00 pm

It is graduation weekend for the Adams County Ohio Valley Schools. All graduation ceremonies will be live-streamed on the district YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@acovsd/live Starting today, NAHS at 4 pm, WUHS at 7 pm, and PHS on Sunday at 2 pm.
We are excited to invite your student to our summer programming this year, Discovery Camp. Students must have been enrolled in Kindergarten through sixth grade during the 2022-2023 school year. Discovery Camp will be held for six full days this year on June 6th-8th and June 13th-15th from 9:00-3:00 at West Union Elementary School with students able to attend one camp or both. Discovery Camp is no cost. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided daily and there is no cost for meals. In subsequent years, the location of the camp will rotate to other elementary buildings in the district. We hope to be able to offer shuttle bussing to West Union Elementary for North Adams and Peebles. This is a reminder that tonight, May 8th, starting at 7 pm at Peebles High School, The Adams County Ohio Valley Board of Education is hosting a community forum to meet the candidates who are applying for the superintendent position. Bradly Colston Martin was recognized at the 40th Exceptional Achievement Award Recognition Ceremony on April 27, 2023 as the Outstanding Student Award Recipient for Adams County.
Ethan Thompson of WUHS was awarded the SATH Foundation Scholarship Award at the 40th Exceptional Achievement Award Recognition Ceremony on April 27, 2023. Mr. Michael Roades presented the scholarship to Ethan.
