These two have been working extremely hard and meeting goals! Great job!

We have some students who are excelling in Reflex Math and scoring perfect scores on their weekly Math Computation Assessment! Keep up the great work!

Attention all 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Parents.....
We are in the process of developing another after school program for our students in 4th, 5th and 6th grades that will take place every TUESDAY from 2:45-4:45. This program is STEM related and students will be working with robotics and several other STEM related materials to complete projects that are designed to be very engaging and very fun!
Permission slips will be coming home with students on Friday. If your child is interested in participating, please complete and turn in. There is limited space available for this program, so it is a first come-first serve basis!
If you have questions, please contact our office.

The third-grade students have been participating in the Chick Quest program. Even Thor, the class pet, has been watching the eggs. There was a lot of excitement today as the first chicks hatched! Everyone was very excited to see this!

We will be celebrating Read Across America March 3-6. Here are the themed days we will have for that week. Remember, that Friday students will not have school due to the staff in-service day.

Save The Date!

☀️Even though it's snowing outside, these students are shining bright! We are proud of the hard work and great choices they are making!👍🏼

Chick quest turned our 3rd grade students into engineers on Tuesday! Students were provided with a scenario requiring them to create a way to move eggs from a hen's nest to a conveyor belt without breaking the eggs. Students were challenged to plan, design, and create a method of moving the raw eggs using only 8 sheets of paper and an arm's length of masking tape. Students put their creations to the test as raw eggs were dropped through the creations. Several groups of students successfully designed a method of moving the raw eggs! It was a fantastic STEM activity using creativity, social skills, and brainstorming ideas!

This is a fun opportunity for students during the summer.

Last week, our 5th grade classes enjoyed hands-on trip to Green Acres. They took a hike in the woods to learn how they tap the trees to get syrup. Students had a chance to taste the sap directly from the tree and empty the buckets of sap. When going to the sugar shack, the students saw how the process of making syrup took place. They were fascinated by how it starts off clear and then darkens overtime. Students had the opportunity to taste the syrup at two different stages, one that resembled "tea" and the other was fully cooked syrup.
They had activities inside that have more information on maple syrup making and the environment.

Any parent who would like to enroll their child in kindergarten for next school year, please use the website to begin the process. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our front office staff.

There is no school on Monday, February 17th in observance of Presidents Day!

The OVSD Safety Department consists of 5 sworn law enforcement officers, and includes a Safety Director and 4 School Resource Officers, who are House Bill 318 compliant with their 40 hour School Resource Officer certifications.
The Safety Department team has more than 120 years of cumulative law enforcement experience, with specialties that not only include road patrol and corrections, but as detectives, juvenile probation officers, children services investigators, SWAT operators, trauma informed care, counselors, court administration, OPOTA certified firearms instructors, and security.
Our Safety Department team members are from this community, and have attended the same schools they are now sworn to protect. Many have children and grandchildren now attending those same schools. Our officers are experienced in conflict resolution, problem solving and are emotionally mature, able to prioritize and flexibly respond to the ever changing safety and security needs of our buildings and district.
Having worked as a team for one full school year now, our officers have trained in firearms, tactics and communications both in house and with other law enforcement agencies, and are able to quickly respond to situations and threats from both inside and outside of our schools. Working side by side with building and district administrators, the Safety Department is there to provide a safe environment for the educational process to take place.
We would like to thank our own, SRO Anthony Blevins, for keeping our campus safe and for being a positive role model for our students!

These kids are on 🔥! Congratulations on scoring perfect scores on your weekly math computation papers!

READERS ARE LEADERS!
Each time a student gets 100% on an AR quiz in Mrs. Wilburn's class, they earn a star. Ellie has completely filled her chart. 20 books with a 100%!
For each 100%, the kids actually earn behavior bucks, a star for their chart, and a ticket for a chance to pick from the prize box (drawings are weekly). After completing the entire chart, they get to pick from the BIG treasure chest.

Here are the lunch menu changes for the remainder of the week.

On Monday, Mrs. Horsley's class made Kindness Pins. The words, "Show Kindness" were written on the pins and the kids decorated them. When they saw an adult in the building they gave it to them and reminded them to spread kindness!
