The students in the OVCTC Construction Technology program have been hard at work completing the siding for a shed they are constructing in lab.

Last week, students in the OVCTC Automotive Technology program were taught by Mr. Palmer how to execute a thorough pre-alignment inspection.

Covid 19 presents a few challenges for our schools but juniors in our Early Childhood Education program at the OVCTC are taking the opportunity to learn about alternative teaching styles that provide students with a safe environment while still providing them the instruction and guidance they need to grow. Last week juniors returned to West Union elementary to work in their assigned classrooms. As seen in the photos all ECE students are wearing masks and often use clear dividers to provide an extra layer of protection between them and the students they are working with. Our ECE students enjoy the time they spend in the classroom and were excited to return and see all of the students they work with daily.

Thank you to our Health Careers Technology Instructor, Mrs. Grooms, for providing the CPR class for our Ag. Business & Ag. Mechanics students so that they could earn this important industry credential!

Mrs. Foster’s Career Readiness developed an important life skill this week as they learned to see on a button.

The OVCTC is very proud of Michael Satterfield, a Class of 2020 graduate who studied in the IST program. Michael has recently graduated from US Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Georgia! We can’t truly express how grateful we are that you are serving our country!!!

Congratulations to Mrs. Foster and the OVCTC Culinary Arts FCCLA chapter for receiving a $1000 grant from National FCCLA organization for their work with the Facts on Safe Driving program!

Upon review of the Adams County School/Community, staffing needs, student needs, and discussions with Dr. Hablitzel, the Adams County Ohio Valley School District will resume in-person school on Thursday, December 10th. We welcome our students back!

Mr. Palmer has two students from the OVCTC Automotive Technology program busy on early placement at Barry’s Chevrolet and Buick. The students are working with professionals and learning the Automotive Technicians trade, no virtual training for them since all the work is hands on! Thank you for giving Remy Mcnown & Jonah Porterfield a chance in the real world!!

Due to poor road conditions, mainly on our side roads, the Adams County Ohio Valley School District will be closed today, December 1st, 2020. Staff does not report and there will be no virtual classes today.

The OVCTC Ag Business program’s corn harvest wrapped up at the farm last week! The test plots were harvested and thanks to all of our seed companies involved in helping make it successful. Thank you to Lu Ann Daniels and family (LAD Farms) for working with the OVCTC Ag Business Program on some nice replacement Boer does for the farm. The junior class was involved with worming and loading and unloading. They have been a pleasant addition to the farm and the students look forward to some high quality offspring from these ladies in the future!
