Big congratulations to Julia Wagner, a Cosmetology student at the Ohio Valley Career & Technical Center and a member of the North Adams Cheer Team!
Julia chose to attend the CTC while competing at the highest level with her team, showing that students can successfully balance their passion and their pathway.
We’re also cheering loud for Julia and the North Adams Cheer Team, for placing 6th in the nation this weekend at their competition in Disney World! What an incredible accomplishment on a national stage.
Way to represent your school, your program, and your team, Julia. This is what pioneering pathways looks like!

To start off Career Tech month we are going to kickoff with SkillsUSA week, checkout out our daily themes and join the fun.

Congratulations Bryson, for finishing 3rd out of 15 in his wrestling match! As a junior Ag Mechanics student, Bryson shows the same toughness, discipline, and work ethic in the ag mech lab that he brings to the mat. Whether it’s building, fixing, or battling for position, he puts in the work and earns the results.
Keep setting the standard, Bryson. Hard work wins—everywhere.

Something sweet is in the works… 🍰
Our Culinary Arts students have been busy practicing desserts that will be featured on the menu for our upcoming dinner. This one is still in the test kitchen, however it is already looking (and smelling) incredible.
Any guesses what dessert this might be? 👀
We can confirm one thing, it tastes even better than it looks.
More details on the Date night coming soon!

Teamwork makes it happen
Our Construction Technology students helped assemble new tables for the Culinary Arts Career Café, supporting another program and helping prepare the space for an upcoming event. It’s a great example of how our CTE programs work together to create real-world experiences for students.
The Career Café is now ready as Culinary Arts students prepare for a special evening dinner, OPEN TO OUR COMMUNITY! Details will be shared soon, but it’s shaping up to be a great night out and a chance to support our students.
Stay tuned.

Big shoutout to Brian Kitchen and his crew for powering up our Welding Lab expansion and really sparking some great learning along the way. From conduit to connections, they’re helping lay the framework that’s building something strong for our students. Brian continues to be a steady hand and a key piece of the structure, always reinforcing our program and community. Watching this project come together from start to finish is a learning experience that’s truly forged for the future

OVCTC FFA was excited to have a visit from Ohio FFA State Reporter, Austin Manning today! Austin was able to emphasize the need for us to work together as a team and communicate clearly with each other in our own chapter. He conducted a few different activities to keep our students motivated, but yet be willing to let go of things that may weigh us down in our lives. We had a wonderful time with Austin and ended the morning together with the officer team sharing a nice Mexican meal together! Keep up the good work Austin and proud to have you represent us at the state level!

Snow-mageddon forecasted. Ag Mech did what Ag Mech does best!
Students spent the day getting snow removal equipment tuned up, checked over, and ready to roll, which almost guarantees the storm will now completely miss us.
Because nothing scares winter weather away faster than well-prepared equipment and students who actually know how to use it!
Hard work, hands-on learning, and just enough preparation to cancel the snow. You’re welcome.

2hr. Delay today 1/22/26

Agriculture doesn’t stop for winter, and neither do our students. Lambing season is in full swing, calves continue to arrive, and seniors are gaining hands-on experience processing Berkshire piglets. It’s boots in the mud learning that reflects what agriculture truly looks like day in and day out.
From animal care and herd management to harvesting and storage of crops, students are developing responsibility, work ethic, and practical skills that can’t be taught from a book alone. With classroom instruction, lab experiences, and a working 300 acre school farm, we are the only program in the area able to offer this wide range of authentic agricultural opportunities all in one place.
As the commercial said, “So God made a farmer.” And we’re helping shape the next generation, one cold morning at a time.

We know those guys holding the banner! Congratulations to Parker Hayslip on reaching 1,000 career points! Parker is yet another example that students don’t have to sacrifice success on the court or field to attend the CTC. As a senior in our Precision Machining program, he shows that career-technical education fits all students—athletes, leaders, creators, and future professionals.
The same focus it takes to be a consistent shooter shows up in the lab: reading blueprints, hitting tight tolerances, and putting in the reps. The CTC gives students real-world skills without taking away from sports, clubs, or their high school experience.
If you’re motivated, driven, and want more from your school day, the CTC is a place where you can build your future and still chase championships. We’re proud to celebrate students who prove that success has more than one lane.

Round two of the Southern Ohio Career Tech League highlighted exactly what career-technical education does best—hands-on learning, collaboration, and real-world skill development. We were excited to host the Construction competition, while our partners at Southern Hills Career and Technical Center hosted the Nursing competition, giving students the chance to work in different environments alongside peers from other campuses.
A special thank you to Darin Schweickart with DS2 Architects for designing the blueprints for the construction competition and serving as a judge. Students gained invaluable experience seeing how a project moves from 2D drawings on paper to a full bathroom mock-up, working directly with a community professional in the process.
Today was engaging, energetic, and centered on learning, teamwork, and confidence building—exactly what these opportunities are meant to provide. Thank you to Southern Hills CTC, our instructors, judges, and students for making the day a success. We look forward to seeing the league continue over the coming weeks!
