Third grade began their study of Ruby Bridges and her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement. Students illustrated a scene in today's book, The Story of Ruby Bridges, by Robert Coles. Lots of thought went into each of the scenes that were drawn. One student was randomly selected from each homeroom to receive a take-home copy of three books that were donated by a community member.

3rd-grade students spent their social studies block exploring Mardi Gras and identifying changes over time. They enjoyed a Cafe Du Monde beignet, and then we took a Yay-or-Nay poll. Almost all students voted Yay; however, a few voted Nay.
