🏫🩺 Friendly Reminder for Our Elementary Families!
Did you know that ACOVSD, in partnership with ACRMC Family Medicine, offers school-based telehealth services at:
📍 North Adams Elementary
📍 Peebles Elementary
📍 West Union Elementary
When students become sick during the school day, they may be able to receive care right at school through the telehealth clinic. ACRMC providers can evaluate and treat many common concerns, including coughs, colds, flu, fever, earaches, sore throats, headaches, rashes, allergies, pink eye, and more.
Providing access to care at school can help students feel better faster while reducing time away from the classroom—and that supports our goal of keeping students healthy, present, and learning! 🎒📚
⭐ STRIVE FOR 5 — Healthy Students. Every Day Counts!
Parents/guardians must complete the required registration and consent forms before services can be provided. If you are interested in enrolling your child or would like additional information, please contact your elementary school office.

📅 Religious Expression Days & Holiday Calendar Guidance
As required by Ohio law (Ohio Revised Code 3320.04), Adams County/Ohio Valley School District is providing families with information regarding Religious Expression Days and the District’s non-exhaustive religious holiday calendar for the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 school years.
Families should know:
• Students may receive up to 3 excused religious expression days each school year.
• Parents/guardians must provide written notice within the required 14-school-day timeframe.
• Reasonable academic accommodations will be provided when an excused religious expression day conflicts with an assessment or major academic requirement.
• Students remain eligible to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities on an excused religious expression day.
The District’s calendar is not an exhaustive list of religious holidays and observances.
📌 Please review the accompanying calendar for dates and additional information.
Please Note: This is a two-year calendar, covering both the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 school years, and is being provided to assist students and families with planning in advance.

🎒📚 WELCOME BACK, ACOVSD! 📚🎒
We are excited to welcome our students, families, and staff back for another great year at Adams County Ohio Valley School District! 🏫⭐
As we begin the new school year, we want every student to start strong—and that starts with being at school, on time, every day!
⭐ STRIVE FOR 5! ⭐
✅ Be present 5 days a week
✅ Strive to miss fewer than 5 days all year
✅ Be here. Be on time. Be ready to learn.
📣 IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
ALL absences count toward chronic absenteeism—regardless of whether the absence is excused or unexcused. The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) defines chronic absenteeism based on the amount of instructional time a student misses and has established a goal for students to maintain a chronic absenteeism rate of less than 10% for the school year.
📝 Written notes are required for ALL absences.
Please make sure documentation is provided to the school whenever your child is absent.
Missing school adds up quickly. Every day matters. Every class matters. Every opportunity to learn matters.
🏫 Attend Today. Achieve Tomorrow. 🎓
Good attendance leads to stronger learning, higher grades, more opportunities, and brighter futures. Together, our students, families, and staff can make attendance a priority and help every student succeed!
🎓 🌟 🏆 STRIVE FOR 5. EVERYDAY COUNTS! 🏆 🌟 🎓

As we head into the final 6 days of school, every day truly matters!
These last few days are important for celebrating accomplishments, completing end-of-year activities, and helping students feel confident and ready for next year.
You may hear the term “chronic absenteeism.” This means a student has missed about 18 days (or 108 hours) of school over the year—whether those absences are excused or unexcused. This is something that is tracked by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce because regular attendance plays a big role in student success.
Even missing a day or two right now can make a difference—especially for students who are close to that threshold.
We need your help to finish strong!
Let’s work together to make sure students are:
✔️ Present
✔️ Engaged
✔️ Ready to finish the year proud
Remember our motto: Strive for 5—Every Day Counts!
Thank you for your continued support and partnership—together, we can make attendance a priority!
Every day. Every hour. Every student. Every school day counts!

Carla Wesley, a dedicated school bus driver and on-board instructor, has been a trusted presence behind the wheel for the Peebles School Attendance Area for the past 18 years. She would be the first to tell you that a school bus is more than just a vehicle—it’s a classroom on wheels. Through her care, consistency, and commitment, she creates a safe and positive start and end to each student’s day.
Carla was honored during this morning’s celebration and presented with a $1,000 award by Chris Harover, President of the National Bank of Adams County..
Congratulations, Carla, and thank you for the incredible impact you make on our students and school community each day!

Each of the eight nominees is pictured here holding plaques with their building principals/supervisors behind them: Bus Driver Carla Wesley and Transportation Director Melissa Baker; Secretary Heather Tomlin and WUES Principal Jeff Stricklett; Head Custodian David Stapleton and PHS Principal Ty Stephens; Head Custodian Chad Newman and PES Principal Jessica Brewer; Secretary Melissa Michael and NAHS Principal Karl Boerger; Credit Recovery Aide Sandy Grooms and OVCTC Director Josh Michael; Head Cook Lori Grooms and WUHS Principal Tad Mitchell; Paraprofessional Mitzi Corrill and NAES Principal Kyle Brewer.
