Second grade students met outside this morning for an experiment about explosions and a social story on how when we feel angry, it can feel like we are going to blow up. Together we talked about anger, and coping strategies we can put in place to combat our frustrations in order to help us manage our feelings in a healthy way. Together we are trying to educate more emotionally aware students, and have fun doing it! Thanks to Ms. Heidi for always making learning fun and being a safe place for all students.

We had a very exciting morning. The Early Childhood Education program from the CTC launched their new program “Junior Educators”. This program is managed by seniors in the Early Childhood Education program and they work with 6th grade students to choose activities to implement with some of our kindergarten students. This program is providing ECE students the ability to strengthen leadership skills, 6th grade students the opportunity to learn about strategies used in teaching and kindergarteners an opportunity for some fun small group activities. Today 6th grade junior educators Lilly Wooten and Aubree Hoop led by ECE senior Kendall Barlow read the story “We all Fall for Apples” to kindergarten students. They also had students sing along with a fun apple song, discussed favorite apples and shared an example of a craft they will be making later this week. We are very excited to see how this program will grow.
