WUHS is proud to bring you Throwback Thursday. SHAZAM! The Girls Varsity Volleyball Team finally earned the school a new banner this year. At the top reads Sectional CHAMPS. That’s right; for the first time in WUHS history the girls pulled it together and took the 1994-1995 Sectional Championship. Although there were many injuries on the team, Coach Hazelbaker and the fans kept the team alive? The cheers rang out at Webster High School as Junior Jessica McClanahan set Senior, Julie Trimble up for the game winning Spike. “KA-POW”, and the rest is history. The team’s record stood at 12-8. Senior Julie Trimble, Mandy Hanson, and Nathania Shelton made the Southern Hills League All Star Team, however only Julie and Mandy could attend the game, and what a game it was! Junior, Jess McClanahan also made Southern Hills League. Special recognition goes out to Julie Trimble, not only did she make all Southern Hills League but she is the first girl in WUHS history to be honored by making District All-Star Team.

Throwback Thursday A happy ending to the season came for the Varsity Lady Dragons because of the outstanding job they did in the Sectional and District Tournaments. The team’s overall record was thirteen wins and eleven loses. They placed fourth in the SHL with a record of seven wins and four loses. The team won the Sectional Tournament and was runner-up in the District. Tiffany Purdy, Angie Grooms, Melissa May, and Natalee Blanton led the team in scoring, while Purdy, Grooms, and Tracy Purdy had the best rebounding. The highest free-throw percentage belongs to Paula Butler, Natalee Blanton, Amanda Bevens, and Tiffany Purdy. Wins over Portsmouth West and Piketon made the Lady Dragons Sectional champs. In District tournament action, they defeated Albany Alexander, but fell to Unioto in the finals. Many awards went to key players. Angie Grooms and Tiffany Purdy were named to the all SHL team, and along with Natalee Blanton they were named WRAC All-Stars. Purdy was named to the Southeastern District Second team while Angie Grooms was Honorable Mention in the District. Coach Kramer was proud of the team and was happy this season had a happy ending.

Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences will take place at West Union High School on Thursday, March 25th from 2:30 to 5:30. Teachers will be calling parents and guardians who have requested a phone conference. Any parent or guardian who is interested in discussing a student's performance may email a teacher directly to request a phone call or call Mrs. Stephanie Stephenson at the high school at 937-544-5553 ext. 61010. When requesting a phone call, please provide your name, the name of the student, the teacher or teachers with whom you would like to speak, and the best phone number for teachers to call. Parents and guardians may also provide the best window of time for teachers to reach them, but please be aware that we will not be able to schedule a specific time for the call, and if demand is high at a certain time, teachers may have to call outside of the window of time provided. Please contact the school by 2:00 pm on March 24th to request a phone conference. We appreciate your understanding and assistance as we work to maintain the safety of our staff and community while meeting the needs of our students.
