Mrs. Hoop's Early Childhood Education Program would like to thank PES principal, Josh Michael, and ACOVSD Personnel Director, Greg Grooms, for conducting mock interviews with our senior ECE students this week. These interviews provide a great way for our students to receive feedback on how to improve their interviewing skills and most importantly receive advice from experts in the field to take with them as continue their journey in education after high school.
The OVCTC Ag Mechanics students recently completed man lift training and received their industry credential in this important workforce skill!

The ACOVSD has collaborated with Adams County Workforce Development we are excited to announce a joint Trade Expo on Thursday, May 9th from 3-6 pm at the Adams County Training and Business Center, located at 107 E. Walnut Street, West Union, OH, formerly the IGA store. At this event, you will learn about the range of jobs and careers available to you and your family in the building trades. Attendees can register to win gift cards for use at local businesses. Many Juniors and Seniors visited during the day and they are welcome to attend the evening session to gather additional information.
In late April, the OVCTC AG Mechanics Small Engine Team traveled to Ohio State ATI in Wooster, Ohio, to compete against other district winners from across the state. They stayed with the plan and placed 14th overall! The team was composed of Caden Luck and Gabe Thatcher (graduating Seniors) and Nolan Lamb from our Junior Class. We want to thank our business partners who helped with training; Baxla Tractor and their staff, Bill Young for opening his new shop to us, at Young's Cycleworx and Flannery’s Auto and Truck. We are very proud to have these dedicated, young FFA Members.

Day 1 of State FFA convention kicked off with a lot of learning and fun! There was a fascinating tour at Sugar Creek Packing. Students learned how bacon and bacon bits were made and packaged and we were able to tour a private collection of cars, motorcycles, and boats! Ended the day improving our swings at Top Golf ⛳️! Next, our students had a packed schedule and started off learning at Select Sires!
Tuesday May 7th the OVCTC SkillsUSA chapter is hosting a National Signing Day for seniors from our SkillsUSA programs. We would like to extend an invitation to friends and family to come in and join your child during their allotted time. This will be a great opportunity to celebrate our seniors' commitment to jobs and career professions after graduation. For more information you can visit our OVCTC facebook page. Students from Ms. Johnson's OVCTC COMMUNITY SERVICE class, Ryken Copas and Emily Evans, did a great job passing out care bags and doing rock painting with the residents at the Alpine House on April 29th! They both demonstrated great leadership skills and compassion! The residents had a great time and enjoyed receiving the small gift.Thanks to the workers at the Alpine House for having us! Thanks also to community service class students Nikki Pence, Anika Chamblin, Fayth Riley, Emily Evans, and Kerry Fenton for putting together the care bags!
The OVCTC Ag Mechanics program is proud to say we had an active week. To close the week, we were fortunate to have Barry Cochran of Bobcat enterprises to provide training and certifications on Scissor Lifts and our JLG Manlift. This is an industry credential that is part of the students path to graduation and a resume builder. Thank you to Mr. Cochran for spending time with our students.
Congratulations to our OVCTC FFA General Livestock Team for placing first in the state finals Friday at The Ohio State University! The team consisted of: David Raines Isabella Crum Grant McClanahan MaRhea Unger These students will compete at Nationals next year at Indianapolis!
Congratulations to the OVCTC Culinary Arts students who recently competed in FCCLA state competition. Our Sports Nutrition team finished 2nd in the state and all OVCTC competitors finished in the top 8 of the state in their respective competitions! Again, congratulations for your hard work & preparation has paid off!
So many activities in the spring, but a group of OVCTC seniors truly enjoyed the Scene 75 Senior Trip! Thank you to Mrs. Edmisten and Mrs. Grooms for chaperoning the trip!
The Construction Technology Program has done great work on the house build this year. As Mr. Hoop would say, "From dirt to doorknobs..." The students truly have built this project from the ground up - foundation, framing, roofing, electrical, drywall, window installation, etc... This week, students were getting the space cleaned up for the painters. After the walls are done, flooring and cabinetry will be close behind!
The students in Mr. Cooper's CNC Machining Program have been working on a variety of projects / assignments in the lab this week!
Important information regarding our Senior Recognition Night will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. at West Union High School Gym. Students are asked to report at 5:30 P.M. to line up. All seniors will be recognized with their program and be given their certificate. Please invite your family and friends to attend and take the opportunity to be together with all your OVCTC friends for this ceremony.
Practice for Senior Recognition Night will be Thursday morning, May 16th. Students should report to WUHS for a light breakfast at 8:30 A.M. and practice will begin promptly at 9:00 A.M. Practice is mandatory for students attending the program that evening. Please dress appropriately for practice (no shorts) as we will be guests in West Union High School that morning.
Dress code for the Senior Recognition Night Ceremony on Thursday evening is nice clothes - no shorts or t-shirts with graphics or writing, NO FLIP FLOPS OR TENNIS SHOES. Jeans are ok as long as they are not ripped or torn. In addition all students need to wear their graduation gowns and any cords at the ceremony; the cap & tassel should be left at home. The OVCTC is extremely proud of the collaboration of the Ag Business, Ag Mechanics and Early Childhood Education Programs for planning and delivering / executing a wonderful Kindergarten Ag Day at the fairgrounds on Wednesday!
