We are recognizing some fantastic students for their great behavior and for being good role models in our school community. Every month our program directors recognize 4 students who stand out in their program as being PROfessional, PROficient and PROductive. Halie Jones and Haven Brewer passed the NHA National Phlebotomy Exam & are now Certified Phlebotomists! The OVCTC is very proud of Mrs. Grooms’ Health Careers Technology students for earning this important industry credential!
The OVCTC agriculture students recently participated in the Ohio Beef Expo. It was a great learning experience while at the show exploring beef genetics, technology, and observing the many different breeds of cattle present. All members participated in the senior judging contest and our OVCTC Team 1 placed 3rd in the entire division. The team consisted of Ryan Shoemaker, Zander White, Wyatt Taylor, and Hayden Crum. Ryan Shoemaker was 3rd overall individually out of nearly 500 Senior participants. Congratulations to our teams on a job well done! Special thanks to Mrs. Amy Hoop, our ECE instructor, for saving the day helping us get students transported to and from the Expo! We appreciate her willingness to sacrifice time on our behalf. Thank you Mrs. Hoop!
The Ag Business classes are fortunate to be a recipient of a mini grant from Harbor Freight Tools! The program received a $200 gift card to use at any Harbor Freight Location. The students and Mr. Rhonemus are looking forward to using the card for a few new tools for the shop!
Congratulations to Elizabeth Mycoskie who won Gold for Nail Care at the SkillsUSA regional competition earlier this month! She will be competing in the State SkillsUSA competition on May 3rd, 2022 in Columbus, Ohio.
The students in the OVCTC Construction Technology program recently completed this build for a customer! The finished product is excellent!

Congratulations to Cayden Hesler for winning the attendance award in Mr. Cooper’s CNC Machining lab! This award is one aspect of the PBIS efforts at the OVCTC & we are proud to celebrate the positive behavior choices of our students!
The OVCTC Early Childhood Education seniors have the opportunity to participate in an early childhood education internship that places them in an elementary classroom all day. This placement provides them the opportunity to learn from wonderful teachers and gain a better understanding of the strategies and topics they’ve studied in the early childhood education program. Ronnie Slack is completing his internship at Peebles Elementary and works with the third grade teaching team of Mrs. Laura Applegate and Mrs. Tabitha Duffey. Last week Ronnie dressed up as the “bookworm” for students in his hallway at PES. His cooperating teachers said students were so excited and absolutely loved it.
Thank you to Sheffer Corporation for hosting Mr. Cooper’s CNC Machining Program for a facility tour this week. We appreciate Sheffer Corp. serving as a business & industry partner for the OVCTC precision machining program!
Due to a service provider outage, phone service to all district buildings is not working. Our provider is working on the issue and hopes to have the service restored later this morning.
The OVCTC PBIS Committee would like to recognize students who have been chosen to appear on the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports Bulletin Board for the month of March. They are being recognized for their excellent display of behavior in the following categories: Professional, Proficient and Productive. These students stand out among the student body as exhibiting the following types of behaviors: following directions, positive language, acts of kindness, present & on time, honest, on task, following safety rules, reporting safety hazards, using equipment appropriately. They are members of one of the following programs at the Ohio Valley Career and Technical Center: Welding, Automotive, Culinary Arts, Cosmetology.
The OVCTC PBIS Committee is pleased to announce that these students were selected to make the February PBIS bulletin board. These students are recognized for their excellent display of positive behavior at the Ohio Valley Career and Technical Center. They have been nominated by their respective program directors in the following departments: CNC Machining, Health Careers, Agricultural & Industrial Power, Construction Management.They are recognized for good behavior in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, lab, field trips, competitions, etc. Program directors look for the following behaviors in their students: following directions, positive language, acts of kindness, present and on time, honest, on task, following safety rules, reporting safety hazards, using equipment appropriately. Congrats for a job well done!
Congratulations to the OVCTC FFA livestock judging team who placed 1st out of nearly 900 students on Wednesday March 2nd! Zander White, Hayden Crum, Mitchell Ohnewehr, and Ryan Shoemaker were the top scores out of 92 teams. Congratulations gentlemen!
Lots of fun activities and experiences in recognition of National FFA Week during the recent OVCTC celebration! Caricature artist Galen Bailey, commissioners proclamation, radio spots, Ag Olympics, theme days, Tractor Parade, and lots of food and fun! Thank you to all who helped us make this a great event!
