Congratulations to Ms. Roberts 8th period Junior English Class for ending the quarter with the highest average at 91.09%! Their reward was an ice cream sundae bar for working hard to stay on top of assignments & submit any missing work!!! Job well done!
On Monday, the OVCTC Ag Business Juniors had a great educational day selling their feeder cattle. Thanks to Union Stockyards for helping us get top dollar out of the cattle and for proving each of the students with lunch today. The students also toured the facility, the working that the vet uses, and actively engaged in the sale. Winner of the closest weight was Ryan Shoemaker, and the closest on price was Gracie Purdin. Congrats to both and again thanks to Union Stockyards and the Butler family for the hospitality.
The OVCTC is very proud of the Juniors in the Health Careers Technology program that have earned their STNA completion certificate. The students will sit for their Ohio STNA exam on 5/19/2021. Best of luck to you!!!
Wednesday, May 14th, was a day of community service for the students of the Ohio Valley Career and Technical Center’s IST (Information Systems Technology) and ECE (Early Childhood Education) programs. Upon arrival at the Humane Society of Adams County’s animal shelter, the HSAC staff provided each of the 22 students with a donut and task list . The students were so eager to help that the original goal of cleaning out the garage was soon expanded. Students helped shelve dog and cat food, swept, gathered trash, organized other items in the garage, painted the cat quarantine room, cleaned/power washed cages, reorganized the cat room, and walked the dogs. The volunteers took a break for lunch, which was very generously provided by Giovanni’s Pizzeria of West Union. The owner and staff at Giovanni’s went above and beyond to make sure all of the students had enough to eat and drink! The day was a huge success and both the ECE and IST programs are grateful for the opportunity to help an organization that helps so many.
