💙It's School Counselor Appreciation Week💙
Mrs. Louiso plays a vital role in supporting the whole child at Peebles Elementary. Each day, she helps students transition into the school day, supports hygiene and basic needs, checks in with families around attendance, and meets with students who need extra emotional or behavioral support. She works closely with teachers and administrators and is always ready to step in when a situation calls for care, de-escalation, or immediate support.
Beyond the day-to-day, Mrs. Louiso does so much of the quiet, behind-the-scenes work that keeps kids and families feeling supported. She helps connect families with outside resources, sits alongside teams to problem-solve, visits homes when needed, and keeps a close, caring eye on attendance. She makes sure students have what they need, celebrates their successes, supports families as they enter kindergarten, and helps parents navigate the paperwork that can sometimes feel overwhelming.
No two days ever look the same, but Mrs. Louiso consistently shows up with compassion, dedication, and heart. Our students, staff, and families are incredibly fortunate to have her at Peebles Elementary. If you see her, be sure to tell her just how much she’s appreciated. 💙

Last week, 3rd-grade students started an integrated social studies and writing unit. The first part of the assignment was to plan a campground of your choice. They created spa camps, gaming camps, hunting camps, dirt track riding camps, and the list goes on. They started with a rough draft map. When it was checked and contained all of the required elements, they completed a final draft. After that, they wrote a persuasive paragraph about their campground to urge people to visit.
These pictures were submitted by one of our 3rd graders today. She (with some help from her siblings) took this learning a step further. They created a Lego/Lincoln Log replica using her rough draft.
This is such a great way to continue learning while being snowed in!

🌨️ PES Planning Ahead for Possible Winter Weather 🌨️
As we continue to monitor the weather forecast, there is a possibility that PES may need to utilize virtual learning days at some point next week if winter conditions impact school.
To help families plan ahead:
💻 Grades 3–6
Students in grades 3–6 will be bringing their Chromebooks and chargers home in the event that school is canceled, and we transition to virtual learning.
If your child is absent today, please contact the PES office to arrange a Chromebook and charger pickup.
✏️ Kindergarten–2nd Grade
Packets have been sent home with your students for Kindergarten through 2nd grade in the event of a virtual learning day.
💻 Virtual Learning Details
Each day, a new post will be made to our Facebook page and will be sent through FinalForms for daily assignments. Teachers will be available at the times listed on the flyer. For K/1, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher for meets and questions.
At this time, no final decisions have been made—this message is simply to ensure PES families are prepared. Thank you for your flexibility and continued partnership as we navigate winter weather together.
❄️ Stay warm and stay safe, PES! ❄️
