3rd grade students are pictured here utilizing the new Studies Weekly Science curriculum. It contains SO many opportunities for hands-on learning.
Today's lab consisted of an exploration of the finch's beak. Student's used plastic tweezers as a replica of the beak. They had to determine which island the finch would be able to collect more food at, due to the size and shape of the beak.
Once completed, they added some math by determining the class averages and comparing that to their personal totals. They also determined which bird (student) would be considered the fittest using individual totals from each island total.
This was SO much fun!

3rd Grade students in Mrs. Applegate's Math Intervention group began working on Ohio State Test preparations. This week they worked on questions involving the various objectives connected to fractions. They enjoyed using fraction strips to defend and explain their reasoning.

Congratulations to Liana and Charlotte, our newest first grade Math Masters!
