An Exceptional Achievement Award recipient is recognized for services he/she has provided during school year to ensure students with disabilities achieve personal, social, or academic goals of the highest standards. Only a limited number of individuals or groups from throughout the five-counties served by Region 14 are recognized with this honor. We are very pleased to announce that Carla Grooms, a West Union Elementary Paraprofessional, has been selected to receive the 2024 Exceptional Achievement Award. Please join us in congratulating Carla! We cannot thank her enough for the hard work, service, dedication, and love that she gives our students! The Forty-First Annual Exceptional Achievement Award Recognition Ceremony will take place on April 25, where Mrs. Carla will be recognized!.

Continuing our partnership with our wonderful community 2nd grade had two visitors today. Tammy Unger used her knowledge as a nurse to talk about growth and development. She discussed how our bodies change, and the cycle of life. The Honorable Judge Brett Spencer, and Bailiff Kris Fite spent time with us discussing rules and laws. They talked about the courthouse, jurors, and what the responsibilities of a Judge and Bailiff are. We love having special guests in our classrooms. Our students are lucky to have community members who are willing to share about their expertise.

We had some special guests in 2nd grade today. Dr. Adam Ziegler from SOMC who came to teach us about food groups and how to properly portion our plates. Dr. Z was like a local celebrity, as he serves so many of our students. Our 2nd guest was Heather Dickens, from Adams County Health Department to talk about good hygiene practices. We discussed hand washing and the importance of teeth brushing. We are so grateful for community members and organizations who are willing to invest into our school.
