WUES Ag students heard from OSU Extension Office 4-H Youth Development Educator Kristy Watters speak about her career. It was very interesting for the students to get a behind the scenes look at what it takes to make 4-H run smoothly. Thanks to Mrs. Watters for taking the time to speak to our students.

A big shoutout to all the students who participated in our school’s Snowman Trap STEM challenge during the snow days! Each student came up with creative and innovative designs to trap the snowman using their STEM skills, and we couldn’t be more impressed with their problem-solving abilities. Great job to everyone who took part

Special thanks to Mrs. Shana Grooms for speaking to the Arts Career class. Mrs. Grooms is a local author who provided the students insight on what it takes to write a book.

🎉 Big congratulations to Ruger Horsley for winning the Snowman Trap STEM competition! ❄️⛄️ Ruger’s clever design lured the snowman in with the promise of free hats, and when the snowman wobbles over to them, the bridge tips and catches him! Brilliant work, Ruger! 👏👏 #STEM #Innovation #SnowmanTrap

Can you Catch a Snowman? We are excited to announce a friendly competition inspired by the book "How to Catch a Snowman"! Students will work on designing and building the best snowman trap using various materials.
How will this work? Students will read the book "How to Catch A Snowman" or listen to the read aloud at: https://youtu.be/Xtd-mTRcu7U?si=0MkkNwLLoF_gQgBy. After reading the book they will design and then create a trap that will lure and then catch the snowman. Email the pictures to ben.king@ovsd.us. Mr. King will buy the winning student lunch from their favorite West Union restaurant and will be announced on Monday, January 13th.
It’s a great way for students to learn about engineering while having fun. We can’t wait to see their amazing creations!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
This message is to share information regarding ACOVSD’s plans for virtual learning. If we miss school on Thursday, Friday and next Monday, our school will transition to virtual learning starting on Monday, January 13th.
To ensure that all students can participate in online classes via Google Classroom, it is essential that they have access to a device. If your child does not have a working device at home, we will be offering a Chromebook pickup at the school from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025 and Friday, January 10, 2025. Pre school parents will not have to access a device to complete work during virtual learning days.
Our district will continue to monitor weather and road conditions over the weekend. In the event we are not in school on Monday, January 13, 2025, students will be participating in virtual learning through the Google Classroom platform. Upon returning to normal school operation, students will be required to return their Chromebook and charger if they received one from school.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we prepare for this possible shift to virtual learning. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Exciting news from Wendi Greenlee and West Union Elementary! They’ve been awarded a $5,000 grant through the @OSLN STEM Classroom Grant Program, funded by @Battelle! The grant, titled "Lil Dragons Roar for STEM/STEAM: Empowering Young Minds and Fostering Future Leaders," will help students dive into the world of computer programming and robotics! Big things ahead for our young innovators! #STEM #STEAM #FutureLeaders #LilDragonsRoar #WestUnionElementary

Last night, 1st and 2nd, our 6th grade Band along with the Dance and Theater classes delivered amazing Christmas performances! Huge thanks to our talented students and teachers for spreading holiday cheer!
