The varsity track team recently completed at the District track meet. The following Dragons finished in the top eight at the meet. The girls 4x800 team ran a 11:42.46, was 2nd, and qualified for the Regional meet. Team members were Addie Shupert, Makenna Armstrong, Allie McCarty, and Leena Blanton. The girls 4x200 team ran a 1:59, was 8th, and set a new WUHS record. Team members were Kendra Grooms, Makenna Armstrong, Katie Hunter, and Alexis Mason. The girls 4x100 team ran a 55.96 and was 5th. Team members were Kendra Grooms, Makenna Armstrong, Katie Hunter, and Alexis Mason. The girls 4x400 team ran a 4:39.85 and was 5th. Team members were Addie Shupert, Makenna Armstrong, Allie McCarty, and Lauren Grooms. Kendra Grooms jumped 4-10 and was 2nd in the high jump and a regional qualifier. Katie Hunter jumped 4-6 and was 4th in the high jump and a regional qualifier. The boys 4x200 team ran a 1:41.25 and was 6th. Team members were Josh Chitwood, Braxton Blanton, Cameron Campbell, and Cayse Chamblin. The boys 4x100 team ran a 48.91 and was 5th. Team members were Josh Chitwood, Braxton Blanton, Cameron Campbell, and Cayse Chamblin. Jonathan Macdowell jumped 6-0, was 2nd in the high jump, and a Regional Qualifier. Jonathan Macdowell ran a 55.08, was 4th in the 400, and a Regional Qualifier. Congratulations to all track team members as they did an outstanding job.

At last night's school board meeting, the board voted to revise the school calendar. Seniors last day will be Wednesday, May 19th. The last day for students will be Monday, May 24th. Staff will report to work on Tuesday, May 25th as scheduled.

The High School Track Team competed in the County meet at WUHS last night.
The high school girls finished 2nd. They were led by Jaylynn Mason who was second in the shot put, Kendra Grooms who was first in the high jump and fourth in the 100 meter dash, Katie hunter who was second in the high jump and 100 hurdles, Lauren Grooms was fourth in the long jump and 400 meter run, Allie McCarty was 3rd in the 400 meter run, Katie Fulton was fifth in the 300 meter hurdles, Addie Shupert was second in the 3200 and third in the 800 meter runs, Alexis Mason was fourth in the 200 meter dash, Savannah Bare was third in the 3200 and fifth in the long jump, and Makenna Armstrong was 4tn in the 1600 meter run. The 4x800 and 4x200 teams were first and the 4x100 and 4x400 teams were second
The high school boys team finished 3rd. They were led by Josh Chitwood who was 3rd in the 110 hurdles and 4th in the 300 hurdles, Cayse Chamblin who was 3rd in the 100, 200, and long jump, Cameron Campbell who was 4th in the 100, Jonathon MacDowell who was 1st in the 200, 2nd in the 400 and high jump, Dalton Fenton was 5th in the 1600, Caleb Huff was 5th in the 400 and 800, and Evan Edmisten who was 1st in the 110 hurdles, 3rd in the 300 hurdles and discus. The 4x2 team of Blanton, Campbell, Gallowitz, and Chitwood was 1st. The 4x800 team was 3rd, 4x100 and 4x200 were 2nd.

They were lead by Miley Smith 1st the 100 hurdles and 2nd in the 200 meter dash, Ashlah Staten 1st in the 100 and 200 meter dash, Emma Crawford was 2nd in the 400 meter dash, Kristen Carroll was 1st in the shot put and 2nd in the discus, and Sadie Armstrong was 3rd in the 800 meter run. There were led by Carson Best was 3rd in the 110 hurdles, Jaden Cockrell was 1st in the 100 meter dash and the long jump, Hunter Dearth was 2nd in the 100 meter dash, and 4th in the high jump, James Smith was first in the 400 meter dash and second in the 800 meter run, Darius Davis was first in the 200 meter hurdles, second in the high jump, Wyatt Traylor was second in the 200 meter dash, and Brayden Taylor was fifth in the long jump. The West Union High Performing Arts Department will be presenting “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”. The performances are April 30, May 1, 2, 7, 8 at 7:00 and May 2 and 9 at 3:00. The tickets this year are $10 and are limited with the COVID-19 restrictions. Tickets are available at the school.
