📚 Every Day Counts for Your Child’s Success! 📚
Attendance Matters – being in school every day makes a big difference. Missing just 2 days a month adds up—and by state definition, a student may be considered chronically absent.
✅ If your child must be absent, please remember to send in a parent note or doctor’s note so the absence can be excused.
✅ The Ohio Department of Education’s goal for the 25–26 school year is to reduce chronic absenteeism to 14.5% or less.
Let’s work together to build good habits now—because Strive for 5, Every Day Counts! 🌟

📅✨ September is Attendance Awareness Month! ✨📅
Showing up matters — every single day! Did you know that regular school attendance is one of the biggest predictors of student success? When students are in school, they are learning, building relationships, and preparing for a bright future. 🌟
This year, each school in the Adams County Ohio Valley School District has an Attendance Banner proudly displayed to remind us of our goal:
✅ Strive for 5 (fewer than 5 absences all year)
✅ Every Day Counts
A special shout-out to the talented students in the WUHS FORGE Lab who designed and created these banners for our schools! 🙌 Their work is helping spread the important message that attendance matters.
Let’s work together to build strong habits, encourage one another, and celebrate the power of showing up. 💪📚

📚 Attendance Matters! 📚
Good school attendance is key to your success! Did you know that missing just 2 days of school each month—for any reason—can label a student as chronically absent according to the state of Ohio? 😮
If you ever do need to miss, make sure to bring a parent note or doctor’s note to have the absence excused. Every day counts toward your success! ✅

West Union High School believes that the high school experience is more than just core classes—it’s about students exploring their interests, developing new skills, and preparing for the future. This school year WUHS is offering several STEAM classes for its students one of which is called Fixer Upper.
In the Fixer Upper class students learn the fundamentals of home renovation, including carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and interior design. This hands-on course covers essential skills for remodeling projects, safety procedures, and tool usage. Students will complete small-scale projects and explore career opportunities in construction, real estate, and home improvement.
In Mr. Little’s class the students are learning how to safely use power tools and their first project was to build a charging stand for a cellphone or tablet.

There will be a mandatory senior meeting on Wednesday, August 27th at 9:00 AM. Please see the flyer below for full details. We look forward to seeing you there! 🎓✨
