Adams County Ohio Valley Students Take Big Steps Toward Bright Futures Through Summer Programs & Certifications
This summer, several students from the Adams County Ohio Valley School District made the most of their break by participating in hands-on career programs and extended certification trainings—all part of a continued investment in their futures. These students, made up of recent graduates and rising seniors, chose to take bold steps toward career success by engaging in real-world experiences designed to align with their individual goals and pathways.
These opportunities were made possible through the GRIT Project in Adams County, which partnered closely with students to help them understand their career assessment results and identify paths that matched their strengths and interests. GRIT coordinated with a variety of partners to make these summer programs a success, including:
We are proud to recognize the following students for their initiative, commitment, and courage to step forward into something new:
North Adams High School- Christopher Doughman, Robbie McClellan, Konner Rogers
Peebles High School - Allison Sissel, Braden McCann, Damien McCann, Isabella Farmer, Keira Delk, Carson Reed
West Union High School - Addison Lantz, Braylin Fields, Adriana Moman, Briceton Green, Lea McNeilan, Logan Caldwell, Nina McCann, Yasmine Munoz, James Smith, Kale Garrison
CTC - Emily Stapleton, Gracie Pollitt, Ida Vigal, Kiera Scott, Kennedi Dotson, Chase Lewis, Ryken Copas, Zach Shoemaker
Their willingness to invest in themselves—through certifications, training, and summer learning—reflects a powerful message: The future belongs to those who show up for it. These students showed up, and they shined.
To everyone who helped organize, guide, support, and believe in these students: thank you. We hope we haven’t missed anyone but know that your role was deeply valued. Because of you, doors were opened, needs were met, and futures were strengthened.

We are excited to announce the new West Union High School Makerspace, The FORGE. Staff and Administration have been hard at work all summer putting together this amazing space for our students. Students will think like an engineer while learning how to use and have access to 3D printers, large format printers, vinyl and laser cutters, a mini woodshop, sewing and embroidery machines, button makers, heat presses, circuitry, robotics as well as several types of hand tools and crafting supplies.
The FORGE will give the students an opportunity to let their creativity shine while learning the concepts of the Engineering Design Process through secondary STEAM curriculum.
Come join us and take a look for yourself at back-to-school night, August 12th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!

Students attended Kings Island today on a field trip. Mrs. Guillermin's Junior High Intervention Class used profits from their Freeze Dry Candy Fundraiser to help facilitate this fun day. This field trip was also attended by several other students sponsored by Mr Webb, Special Education Director. Thank you to Miss Cora, Mr Smalley, Mrs Emily Grooms and Mrs. Sierra Grooms who chaperoned!

Every year, Beta club has the opportunity to go to Shawnee State Forest nature center to help clean up trails, refresh the cultural cabin, and repaint trail signage. This, just like last year, is not an experience they will soon forget! Big shout out to Jenny Richards (ODNR officer) for inviting us to come out. We'll see you next year!
